Children learn to read in Kindergarten through third grade and read to learn in grades four and above. The Literacy Coalition has partnered with the School District of Palm Beach County for the past 11+ years to help remedy this lack of reading skills. Volunteers are recruited, trained and supported to tutor these struggling readers.

Tutor two students, one-on-one, in reading comprehension. After-school tutoring takes place in one of three locations: The Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, the Main Library in West Palm Beach and the Lantana Public Library in Lake Worth. Tutoring occurs after school, between the hours of 3:30pm and 5:30pm.
Commit to tutor at least fifteen hours during the school year. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Training is required.
