Volunteer: Attend Training to Become a Reading Tutor for Middle School Grade Students

Building on the success of Building Better Readers, supporting students in 1st through 4th grade, we are expanding to include older students.  Help us grow a tutoring program for middle grade struggling readers in 5th through 8th grade.  Work one-on-one or with a small group of youth once or twice per week, during or after school hours, in-person or virtually, to increase their reading skills. Volunteers will select what works best for their schedule.  Join us for an introductory training session on Monday, February 9th from 9:00am - 12:00pm to learn more and get started.

Volunteer: Attend Training to Become a Volunteer Tutor

All volunteers who wish to volunteer with the Building Better Readers program as a tutor for elementary school aged children in the School District of Palm Beach County, are required to attend a training program.  This program has been developed in conjunction with the Palm Beach County School District.   The training is offered by the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County on various dates throughout the year.  

Our next training will be on Monday, May 11, 2026, 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM at the Literacy Coalition.  The training site is located at 3651 Quantum Blvd in Boynton Beach.  This specific session will be preparing tutors for summer tutoring opportunities as well as in school, starting with the 2026-27 school year.
